This is the standalone launcher for Mincraft Beta This torrent works with: Windows Mac Linux (not tested yet) In addition while logging in, you can press "force update" This forces Minecraft to update to the latest version. WARNING: When updating, the updater overwrites any mods you have installed on Minecraft. This version also allows you to run Minecraft from any directory It automatically creates necessary files in the appropriate folder. ALL CREDIT GOES TO ANJO CAIDO I JUST MOVED IT HERE SO PEOPLE WOULDN'T HAVE TO GO DIGGING FOR IT LIKE I DID. This launcher DOES NOT work with servers that have the "online-mode" set to true. If you want to host a LAN game, download the server starting software here, http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp open server.properties and make sure it looks like this: #Minecraft server properties #Sun May 08 16:23:50 PDT 2011 level-name=world hellworld=false spawn-monsters=true online-mode=false spawn-animals=true max-players=20 server-ip= pvp=true level-seed= server-port=80 allow-flight=false white-list=false Then click the .exe and you should be rolling!
thanks. works great
Hi, It works great, everythings fine, but I have a problem: When I look through all the files for the downloaded result and I can't find "server.properties" I am dying to play multiplayer any help would be very much appreciated!
Start the server.exe and it'l make some files in the folder it is in. Then you can edit the properties.
My comment isnt showing up, start server.exe it will make propertes edit it.
The server.properties file is only for multiplayer
once you go to
http://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp
and download it there should be a MinecraftServer.exe. once you click on this it will create the server.properties file that you need to edit to use multiplayer

Oh, and if your using a Mac/Linux based operating system, you have to download the appropriate version for your OS.
for multiplayer btw.
When I download the server tool, and I start it, it asks me to log in. But I don't have an account (obviously). IS there anyone else with this problem?
@Aldojasp make sure your downloading the server starting software and not the normal minecraft software that legit users use to connect
